How to reduce machine tool noise through timing belts and timing pulleys

Noise occupies a very important index in evaluating the performance of machine tools. The main drive of modern CNC machine tools is mainly driven by high-torque arc synchronous belts.

    So how should the noise of the machine tool be controlled under the condition of high line speed transmission?

    Reducing the noise of the machine tool is mainly from two aspects to significantly reduce the noise of the timing belt of the CNC machine tool.

    The first aspect: think of a way from the sound source.

    Due to the shape tolerance and position tolerance of the pulley itself, when the two pulleys rotate, they will make noise due to the unbalanced centrifugal force.

    1. When choosing a synchronous belt wheel, you should choose a high-quality, high-precision synchronous belt wheel.

    2. The pre-tensioning of the timing belt is different from the flat belt. The timing belt relies on tooth-shaped meshing to transmit power, so it does not require a large pre-tension force. Excessive tension will seriously affect the service life of the belt and cause serious noise.

    On the other hand: think of a way from the way the noise spreads. When the belt and the pulley are meshed, the gas is disturbed and aerodynamic noise is generated.

    The wider the width of the silencer groove in the circumferential direction of the timing belt wheel is, the longer the air flow path is, the greater the pressure change of the gas, and the greater the noise.

    Therefore, it is desirable that the width of the timing belt wheel and the belt be as narrow as possible, but the width of the timing belt and the transmitted power have an approximately proportional relationship. In order to achieve the designed power, the belt wheel and the belt must have a certain width.
